Reading Rocks At Beach Channel High School Library

Bookworms are winners at Beach Channel High School Library. Several literary events celebrating National Poetry Month and National Library Month were wrapped up with a splashy Poetry Slam party for students who diligently participated in "Poem in Your Pocket" and "Book Bank." Those students who followed all the contest rules were invited to the Poetry Slam party and award ceremony on May 17. At that time several students read aloud their original writings and recited excerpts from published poems. The surprise winners were announced to a large crowd of students, staff and family. Everyone had a good time at the literary event receiving awards and gifts and sharing refreshments. "Poem in Your Pocket" winners are: 1st Place - Tishyia Saxon-Frazier, 2nd Place - Michael Phanor, 3rd Place - Kalief Williams. "Book Bank" winners are: 1st Place - Gayle Napoleon, 2nd Place - Darnell Parker, 3rd Place - Izamar Adriana Isaac.
