Lloyd-Bey Named District 27 Superintendent
"Our new Community Superintendents come to us with rich experience and knowledge of our public schools," Klein said in making the appointments. "I am confident that they will help our schools and our students make substantial progress in the coming years." Lloyd-Bey has served Rockaway as a principal at PS 106 in Edgemere and was the Deputy Superintendent of District 27 under Matt Bromme prior to the advent of the regional setup. She has served as superintendent on other occasions when the courts ruled that the city could not do away with the district governance plan without state approval. It was not clear at press time who would become the superintendent at the two local high schools because, while several educators were named as High School Superintendent, there were no school designations provided by the Department of Education. It is also unclear as to what role the District Superintendent will play in a governance plan that allows principals to opt out of the Department of Education system entirely.
