Update On Rockaway Point Firehouse Contest
Voting Ends Sunday, May 13

With two days left to vote in a national contest, the Rockaway Point Volunteer Fire Department is in fourth place, according to a contest spokesperson, and still needs the support of the community to win.

The Rockaway Point Volunteer Firehouse has the opportunity to win $100,000 for much-needed equipment in a contest sponsored by firedog . The voting period began on April 28 and ends on May 13.

The firehouse is one of 10 finalists in an essay contest honoring America's firefighters for outstanding service to their communities. The Rockaway Point Fire Department was honored for its contributions to the 9/11 recovery process and its support of Iraqi War veterans through the annual Wounded Warriors event, as well as their ongoing dedication to the community.

Residents are asked to log on to firedog.com/acrossamerica and vote for the Rockaway Point Volunteer Fire Department.
