Click Here for More Information Arrested For Rape, Evasion Of Cigarette Taxes A Far Rockaway man was indicted in Queens Supreme Court on Monday for disparate charges including rape, committing a criminal sexual act and an attempt to evade or defeat the cigarette tax. Police say that Anthony Lyons, 22, of 13-41 Beach Channel Drive in the Redfern Houses, on Saturday, April 12, allegedly told an unidentified 14-year-old girl, an acquaintance, to sit on the bed in his apartment and take off her clothes. The girl refused, police say, and Lyons, who reportedly has two prior convictions for assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance, forcibly raped her. Court records allege that he also forced her to commit oral sex with him. Police officers from the 101 Precinct in Far Rockaway and from the Queens Special Victims Unit arrested Lyons at about 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 6 while he was attempting to sell nine boxes of Newport cigarettes without the mandated tax stamps at the corner of Beach 22 Street and Mott Avenue, according to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. Court records show that Lyons was charged with a B Felony for the attempt to evade or defeat the cigarette tax and several charges in connection with the rape, including: rape in the second degree; committing a criminal sexual act in the second degree; rape in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child. A spokesperson for Brown said that Lyons faces seven years in prison if convicted of the top rape count. His next court date is set for May 14.
