New York Sharks Battle Divas At Aviator Complex

The New York Sharks women's tackle football team will open their 2007 home campaign this Saturday at the Aviator Sports and Recreational Complex in Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn at 4 p.m. Tickets are $12.

The Sharks started the season off strong by defeating the Miami Fury on the road last week 48-33. The visiting Washington D.C. Divas will try to snap the Sharks unbeaten 1-0 record.

Currently the only professional women's football team, the New York Sharks has 65 players representing the tri-state area and is the longest operating team in the United States.

The New York Sharks are part of the Independent Women's Football League, which consists of 32 teams throughout North America.

Aviator Sports Complex is located at Floyd Bennett Field on Flatbush Avenue, just north of the Marine Parkway Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge. To arrive via public transportation, take the MTA Q35 bus.
