A Trip To The Rockaways And Jamaica Bay In The Old Days!!!

Commentary From The Rockaway Museum

by Emil Lucev, Curator

Dedicated To The Memory Of Leon S. Locke

As my vessel came up towards the gut, bearings were taken, and my good ship made it safely thru, and I was in the Conarie Zee. A stop was made at Schmeelk/Lundy Island, then Horse Island, McCafferty's Island and then thru Bull Gut Creek and Bay to Chamattor Island.

After a stop at Westville, I sailed to Ruffle Plot past Ruliff's Bar, hit the ründ to North Bay by Jameco Marsh, then west and south past Neivis Diepel, Old Squaw Marsh- then over Nova Scotia Bat to Oceanus.

After lunch I sailed east to Molineaux's Creek then up Pumpkin Patch to Haugh Tree and hither East Neck opposite Hook Marsh. Later I passed thru Hellgate and down Broad Creek- thru the ründ- then southwest over Nova Scotia Bay to the Gut, then due south thru the Gut into the Atlantic Ocean again.

Ardent followers of Historical Views should know where my boat went on this ancient trip in our area! Do you know where I was?
