Dads Compete In B-Ball Tournament

The Goldie Maple Academy Cougars pose with their coach, Jacqueline Cribbs and assistant coach Keisha Guilford, after winning the first tournament game for the inter-public school Rockaway Basketball Project.
Fathers from several public schools across the peninsula are competing in a tournament for Rockaway's Basketball Project, with the first official game taking place at the Goldie Maple Academy on April 13.

PS 105 Parent Coordinator Alla Nesmith presented Goldie Maple Academy Principal Angela Logan with the idea of contacting schools in Rockaway and asking them to participate in the tournament.

The Goldie Maple Academy Cougars are being coached by School Safety Agent Jacqueline Cribbs, with Parent Coordinator Keisha Guilford working as Assistant Coach. Positive Force PS 105 is coached by school janitor Al Shannon.

The exciting game was a big draw for many parents and students from both schools, who cheered on their teams. Goldie Maple won, with a final score of 84- 50. The next game will take place on April 27 against PS 183.
Down but not out: PS 105 Positive Force team members are all smiles.
