Open High School Basketball Tryouts For Empire State Games

Any New York City high school basketball player who is looking for some competition during the summer is invited to try out for The Empire State Games. The event, which is the largest multi-sport event for amateur athletes in the nation, will begin on July 25 through July 29 in Westchester County.

Tryouts will take place in May for the New York City Empire State Scholastic Boys and Girls teams. NYC will battle against teams from the different regions throughout the state.

The high school scholastic girls' team will be led by Breezy Point native and Bishop Kearney High School coach Cathy Crockett and assisted by Dennis Nolan, head coach of Bishop Ford High School.

Tryouts begin on Saturday, May 5 at 3 p.m. and May 19 at 10 a.m. at Bishop Kearney High School, which is located at 2202 60th Street in Brooklyn.

On Saturday, May 12, tryouts will be held at Bishop Ford High School, located at 500 Nineteenth Street in Brooklyn at 10 a.m.

The scholastic boys' team will be once again coached by Monsignor McClancy High School coach Don Kent, a Breezy Point native, and assisted by Tom Fraher, head coach of Mount St. Michael Academy.

Tryouts will be held on May 8 at Mount St. Michael, located at 4300 Murdock Avenue, in the Bronx at 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 12 at St. Francis College at 12 p.m. The college is located at 180 Remsen Street in downtown Brooklyn.
