National Parks Week Volunteers Needed

In anticipation of the 75th anniversary of historic Jacob Riis Park, and in honor of National Parks Week and JP MorganChase's Global Day of Service, residents are invited to attend a family-friendly day of natural habitat and site restoration at the park on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The park cleanup takes place in conjunction with the National Parks Conservation Association, National Park Service, park friends and Earth Share New York.

Individuals, families and groups will have the opportunity to take part in activities such as painting, planting, graffiti removal, bird box assembly, exercise station assembly and more. Gloves will be provided, but participants are asked to wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing and sunscreen. A guardian must accompany all children under 18 years old. Lunch will also be provided.

Participants will meet at the entrance pavilion of the historic bath house opposite the Riis Beach parking lot.

For more information, contact Darby Shiber-Knowles, Program Coordinator, National Parks Conservation Association at 212-617-2771.
