Adams Penalty Goal Defeats Beach Channel

Pauleen H. Geffrard had a lot to celebrate in the first half as her goal put Beach Channel ahead of their division rival John Adams 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The goal occurred on the same day as her birthday but as it turned out, Geffrard and her Lady Dolphins would not have much to celebrate after the goal.

John Adams stormed back with a late first half goal and a Lizette Veliz penalty kick goal to give the Spartans a 2-1 road victory in a PSAL Queens B matchup.

Geffrard scored in the 30th minute to give the Dolphins the 1-0 advantage. Just as the first half was about to end, John Adams got a break. Cindy Lopez pounced on the loose ball, which squirmed away from the hands of Dolphins goalkeeper Tiffany Maynard, and calmly scored to knot the game at 1-1.

In the second half, John Adams maintained possession and capitalized in the 20th minute. Veliz was tripped up by Maynard in the goalkeeper's area and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Velez kicked the ball into the top left corner of the net as Adams went up 2-1. The loss was Beach Channel's first of the season as they fell to 1-1. John Adams improved to an undefeated 3-0 record.

Softball: Far Rockaway won their first game of the season at home by defeating Campus Magnet, 18-8 on Wednesday afternoon. Jaemali Earle recorded four hits and knocked in 4 RBI and Jaleesa McCrimmon chipped in with 3 RBIa as the Seahorses improved their record to 1-5 (PSAL Queens 1B).

Tennis: Gary Passik and Michael Hinds easily outdistanced their opponents in singles matches ad the Dolphins defeated John Adams 5-0. Beach Channel leads the Queens B1 Division with an 6-0 record.
