Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School (PPA) in Far Rockaway recently participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients program for three weeks in the month of March. PPA students collected $910.83 for the cause.

The community service project raised money to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to help improve the quality of life for children who have some form of blood cancer and their families.

PPA students worked together to collect coins for Pennies for Patients, while making a connection to the Far Rockaway community. Class 101 raised the most money ($199.46) and was celebrated by their peers.
