D.A.Brown Visits Community Board 14
Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown (left) visited Community Board 14 Tuesday night at the Knights of Columbus in Rockaway Beach. The district attorney spoke about the city's achievements in crime reduction; the Sean Bell shooting, about which he said the case should be tried in Queens before a jury that represents the diversity of the borough, not in another jurisdiction and not in the court of public opinion; and his efforts to make sure that the mastermind of the Wendy's massacre, John Taylor, receives the death sentence. He described Rockaway as an "area that is changing very, very rapidly," and reiterated that his office's main focus is "maintaining law and order and improving quality of life in the county." CB14 Chairperson Delores Orr (right) asked Brown what people should do if they suspect that a sex offender has reported misinformation to the New York State Sex Offender Registry, which monitors them. Brown said such concerns should be reported to the Special Victims Bureau at (718) 286-6505.
