Art Garfunkel At North Fork Theatre, April 12

Live Nation presents Art Garfunkel at the North Fork Theatre at Westbury on Thursday, April 12 at 8 p.m.

His pure, high tenor has helped him launch a number of top 40 hits in the mid 70's including "All I Know," "I Shall Sing," "Second Avenue," "Since I Don't Have You" and "I Only Have Eyes For You." On his brand new cd, Some Enchanted Evening, Art Garfunkel sings Mercer, Gershwin, Arlen, Dorsey, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Berlin and more.

Art Garfunkel began his musical career in 1957 as a member of the duo Tom & Jerry with Paul Simon. During a brief hiatus, Garfunkel earned a mathematics degree from Columbia University, but reunited with Simon as Simon & Garfunkel in 1965. Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair/Canticle," written with Simon, was one of their greatest hits. Together they earned five Grammy Awards and became one of the most successful duos in pop history. After the duo split in 1970, Garfunkel began working on his solo career and has appeared in several films including Catch-22 and Carnal Knowledge . Garfunkel released his first solo album in 1973, Angel Clare , featuring the top 10 hit "All I Know." In 1975, Garfunkel released his second album, Breakaway and topped the charts again in 1978 with the single "(What a) Wonderful World" featuring James Taylor and Paul Simon. In 1981, Simon & Garfunkel reunited for a concert in New York's Central Park and a year-long world tour. When the tour ended, Garfunkel went on to record six more albums. Today, Garfunkel continues to record and perform, and his image and signature vocals remain among the most instantly recognizable in popular music.
