Historical Views of the Rockaways
The Minda/Atlantic Elevator Apartments, Arverne, 1923 Wave Ad *Photo Taken Before Demolition In 1987
From The Rockaway Museum
by Emil Lucev, Curator
Dedicated To The Memory Of Leon S. Locke

In the old days, the artist's depiction and addresses were always wrong. Here is the perfect example. The camera is positioned on Beach 69 Street and Swan Court, north of Rockaway Beach Boulevard to the left. Story Court and the boardwalk are to the right; Beach 68 Street passes the back of the apartment building, and Beach 67 Street is behind the structure.

The Minda or Atlantic Apartment Building was one of the last Arverne beachfront buildings to be demolished for improvements that came decades later and a few dollars short!
