'Harold The Mailman'Retires,Feted By Residents
Harold Griminger might live in Oceanside, but he has lots of friends in Rockaway, as he found out when he retired recently after 25 years of delivering the mail to Beach 131 and Beach 132 Streets in Belle Harbor. Griminger, called "Harold the Mailman" by the majority of the residents, was feted by 165 of his Rockaway friends at Jameson's Pub on Beach 129 Street on February 5. Pictured, local resident Walter Roberts reads some personal memories that were presented to the former mailman at the party. Griminger is at left.

The Rockaway residents wished Griminger well with the rest of his life. "There will never be another mailman like him," one resident said.
