VOTF Seeks To Extend Statute Of Limitations

The Legislative Committees of New York State Voice of The Faithful (VOTF) held a meeting of regional representatives recently at Fordham Prep in Brooklyn. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss pending legislation on the Statute of Limitations as it pertains to the reporting of sexual abuse. The main speaker was John Salveson of the Philadelphia branch of the VOTF. Pennsylvania has successfully extended the Statute of Limitations. Salveson works with Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) on a national level and is in collaboration with the D.A. in Philadelphia and other justice organizations to pursue justice for the abused by working for a Window of Opportunity. This would remove the bar of the Statute of Limitations for one year. Our New York Legislative Committees are pursuing similar goals .
