Busted For Gun,Drugs In Arverne Apartment
An Arverne man was arrested on Friday, when police executing a search warrant found a 9-millimeter automatic handgun and a quantity of marijuana in his apartment.
Court records provided by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown identify the man who was arrested at 67- 02 Beach Channel Drive as Albert Brown, 48.
Police say that they entered Brown's apartment on a warrant issued by Judge Steven Paynter at about 6:10 a.m. on December 21.
The sources say that Brown was in bed when the warrant was executed. According to court records, the automatic handgun, loaded with four live rounds of ammunition, was found under his mattress.
Police also seized more than two ounces of marijuana, a small quantity of cocaine, and a digital scale from the first-floor apartment.
According to a spokesperson for District Attorney Brown, Albert Brown had been convicted of criminal possession of marijuana in 2000.
Brown was arraigned on December 21 on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $1,500 for his next hearing, which is scheduled for January 14, 2008.
