Making Waves

Commentary By Jane Deacy Republican State Committee Member, 23rd AD

JANE DEACY JANE DEACY As we approach the end of 2007, it is with great pleasure that my co-leader Eric Ulrich and I announce the successful launch of the new Ronald Reagan Republican Club of Howard Beach, which debuted on December 3, 2007.

We pledge our support to President Rosemary Ciulla-Frisone and look forward to working with her to help revitalize the Republican Party in that area.

We acknowledge with gratitude, her promise to build the club and educate people about the principles and mission of the Republican Party.

The Rockaway Republicans Club had the Chairman of the Queens GOP, Hon. Phil Ragusa, address the club with his vision of how we can all get involved. Mike Ricatto, founder and President of Better Leadership America, also stopped by to speak to the standing room only crowd. He has a series of ads running on local TV and radio with the simple message of, "Congress just doesn't get it!" He touched on issues such as making English the official language of the United States, ending illegal immigration, education and taxation. These issues certainly affect all of us and unfortunately, the Democratic Congress just doesn't get it.

I would like to invite all Republicans to please get involved by contacting the Angelo Graci Club of Ozone Park at their website, Gracirepublicanclub.org, or the Ronald Reagan Club of Howard Beach by emailing them at ronaldreaganrepublicanclub@yahoo.com, or the Rockaway Republican Club at 718-318-1515 to find out how they can participate.

With the Presidential New Hampshire primary approximately a month away, the New York State Republican Party, as well as the Queens GOP, has endorsed our former mayor, Rudy Giuliani for President. As a former member of the NYPD during the 70s and 80s, and as someone who has lived through the 9/11, aftermath, and the cleanup at ground zero, I have never been more impressed with a person's ability to lead with such confidence, and still manage to get things done. I am proud to personally endorse Rudy Giuliani's candidacy. Rudy is a fiscal conservative who is not perfect, but then again, who is?

He has my vote, period.

I have volunteered at Rudy's campaign headquarters at 40 Fulton Street, NY to call the New Hampshire voters. I am happy to announce that Senator Serf Maltese, will be opening a phone bank in Queens which will be more convenient for people to go and volunteer. I hope to be stomping in NH on Jan.5-9 with Rudy's camp. Please join me by contacting me at (718) 318-1515 for more information. The campaign will be providing transportation, food and lodging.

This is not a dress rehearsal.

This is the time to get involved.

The New York Presidential Primary will be on February 5, 2008 and we are still in need of Republican Poll workers.

If anyone is interested in earning $200 for the day to work at the polls, please contact me at (718) 318-1515 so I may appoint you.

Poll workers also receive an additional $25 for training in January and although working on Election Day is a long day, it is rewarding.

For too many years, the poll sites in Rockaway have been staffed with Democrats, because of an inability to reach out to willing Republicans to work on the peninsula.

Now is the time to take back our paid positions!

In closing, let me extend to you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and a Happy New Year. At a time when candidates seem to have to defend themselves for believing in something, I leave you all with this sad thought. "What if the hokey pokey is what it's all about?" Isn't it better that these candidates truly believe in something with conviction?

Move on to the real issues concerning all of us. There is a lot at stake. God bless you all.
