New York City's Bureau of Highways has ordered a resident of the beach block of Beach 131 Street, Belle Harbor, to install a new sidewalk to proper grade within 30 days in a location where sewer work is in progress and the sidewalk could be ripped up at any time pursuant to sewer, Long Island Lighting Co. and highway contracts.

With cooperation from the City of New York's Department for the Aging, holiday meals from City Meals-on-Wheels were delivered Chanukah Sunday, December 20, and Christmas day, Friday, December 25, in the Rockaways.

Anyone want to be a judge? All it takes is belonging to the right club when the incumbent is ousted from office. Outgoing Mayor Beame appointed 15 new judges. Seven were not found qualified by their borough bar associa- tions. the Board of Estimate meeting. When no opposition appeared, the board voted its approval without hearing arguments in favor. Nobody seemed to mind all that time in preparation of all those speeches.

Suggested New Year's resolution. Resolve to help the police effort for an orderly community by being ready and willing to identify and testify against those who flaunt the law.

Years Ago... 50 This will do away with at least one "lake" that has formed during heavy rainstorms.

It's strange how many people, even businessmen in the neighborhood, have the impression that the Beach 116 Street parking lot is closed for the winter. The field is open and the meters are working, too.
