Ballroom Dancing at Public School/Middle School 105
After studying ballroom dancing twice a week, for 10 weeks, students at PS/MS 105 performed for an audience filled with parents, students, and staff on November 28. Collaborating with the American Ballroom Theatre Company, the students were able to participate in a Ballroom Dancing Intensive Program.
Students learned a variety of classic dances such as tango, swing, merengue, foxtrot, and the waltz. They were taught by Ellen Connelly, the Creative Director of the Connelly Dance Center. Of the 110 fifth-grade students, six couples were asked to represent PS/MS 105 at a ballroom
Francesca German, Kaliya Ramsey, Ikqu'll Covington, Alexis Fung- Chung, Bandija Botic, Demitri Breunson, Adam Torres, Abigail Bisono, Eddie Jones, Idalia Blake, Raul Bautista and Christian Cruz were selected to compete in the "Colors of the Rainbow Team Match," at the Queens Quarter Finals. PS/MS 105 won the gold and advanced to the semifinals.
Students were able to prepare, practice and perform with the guidance of the fifth-grade teachers,Ms. Sivells, Mr. Wildstein, Ms. Fini, and Ms. Grassi.
