Community Assisted In Bungalow Screening
Miriam Rosenberg's article, "Bungalow Movie Screening Brings Hundreds to NY Museum" (The Wave, 11/16/07) did a great job in conveying how much energy and Rockaway pride was in the audience on November 13th, at The Museum of the City of New York, when we screened clips from our documentary, "The Bungalows of Rockaway."
Working independently for three years on this project, we're very gratified to see the project coming together and to have such a warm, enthusiastic response from a broad cross-section of Rockaway residents, past and present.
We especially want to recognize the generous support of The Chamber of Commerce of The Rockaways and Chamber President Alan Camhi, who co-sponsored the event. Their contribution made it possible for us to reach a wide audience. We wish to thank all the Chamber officers and members who traveled to Manhattan to support the event. We also appreciate the attendance of Council Member Joseph Addabbo.
We extend our thanks to The Wave for its ongoing interest in the project. We also thank Madelaine Chocolate Novelties, Inc. for sweetening our reception.
The ongoing support and fiscal sponsorship of Rockaway Music & Arts Council has helped to make the project possible. We are especially indebted to President Steve Yaeger and to Secretary Sharon Gabriel. The late Barbara Eisenstadt, who took an early interest in the film, remains a source of inspiration. We count ourselves very fortunate that the project brought us into the life of such a dedicated and outstanding woman.
We are planning another screening of clips from the film at the Fort Tilden Theater in early March, 2008. We will publicize the event closer to that time, but hope your readers will join us there!
Thank you to everyone who has written to us at the yahoo e-mail. We are in the process of writing back to everyone.
With much gratitude,
