Local Busted For Cabbie Robbery
According to court records, Brian Clancy, 27, of 114-54 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, hailed a yellow cab driven by Jean Cerisier in Manhattan and asked to be driven to Rockaway.
When Cerisier pulled up to the corner of Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 132 Street at about 1:50 a.m. on December 1, he says that he turned to tell his fare how much he owed for the trip and found Clancy pointing a black handgun at his head.
Court records say that Clancy told Cerisier to get out of the cab and demanded money. Cerisier reportedly gave Clancy $180 in cash. Clancy then fled towards the beach, leaving the cabbie standing in the street.
Police sources say that Clancy was arrested at about 5:30 p.m. that same day by detectives of the 100 Precinct Squad.
A spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said that Clancy was arraigned on December 2 on a charge of robbery in the first degree, an armed felony offense.
Clancy remains in custody, under $15,000 bail. His next court date is set for December 14.
He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the felony count. Cops Seek Jewelry Store Shoplifter
