Court Reporter Positions are Open with NYS
The New York State Unified Court System will be holding an open, competitive examination for positions as Senior Court Reporters with the court system.
Those interested in applying for the position must take a two-part exam, which includes a written test and a performance test.
In order to qualify to take the exam, candidates must have: a high school diploma and three years of general verbatim reporting experience; or a formal court reporting program completed and two years of general verbatim reporting experience.
The exam is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2008. All applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, January 11, 2008.
There is a $25 non-refundable application fee.
The exam will help to establish a list of candidates eligible to fill Unified Court System positions.
Court reporters are hired at a current rate of $70,835 a year, with reporters in New York City, Suffolk, Rockland, Nassau and Westchester Counties also receiving $1,302 in annual location pay.
