Two Arraigned On Weapons Charges In Arverne Altercation
Two Arverne men were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on November 20 on weapons charges, a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown told The Wave on Monday.
The two men, identified as Deshawn Posey, 24, of 420 Beach 67 Street and Kindu Brown, 32, of 336 Beach 70 Street, had been involved in an earlier altercation when a dispute began that left both men in the hospital and under arrest, officials say.
According to court records provided by DA Brown, Posey was sitting in his 2003 Toyota outside of 338 Beach 70 Street at about 9:15 p.m. on November 20, when Brown came up to him and cut him in the face and neck with a box cutter, requiring 20 stitches.
Records show that Posey got out of his car with a gun and fired several shots at Brown, striking him once in the thigh.
Posey, however, says that he was chasing Brown when somebody else pegged the shots that hit Brown.
Brown then allegedly jumped into Posey's car and sped away.
Both Posey and Brown were arrested and taken to Peninsula Hospital Center, where they were treated and released to police custody.
Posey was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and assault.
Brown was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and the unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Bail for both Brown and Posey was set at $30,000 and both remain in jail, a spokesperson for DA Brown said.
Posey's next court date is set for December 5. Brown's next court date is set for December 20.
