"Wishes In Bloom - Planting the Seeds of Hope, Strength and Joy," a new outreach initiative of the Make- A-Wish Foundation, aims to communicate its mission to diverse neighborhood groups and organizations - to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, so as to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

The "Wishes In Bloom" 2007 planting season included P.S. 215. The planting provided an opportunity for the children, parents and school staff to become engaged in the beautification of the school and the Far Rockaway community, while expressing a commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation's mission.

The children arrived at school and found the ground turned, due to the efforts of Walter Bolanos Landscaping. Fourth-graders spent the morning planting more than 500 bulbs.

By planting flowers in celebration of wishes being granted to sick children, the community is brought together around a heart-warming and joyful cause. Each bulb planted represents a wish granted to a local child with a life-threatening medical condition.
