High School Notebook:Dolphins Defeated In Volleyball Playoffs

The Beach Channel Dolphins qualified for the PSAL B Girls Volleyball Tournament of Champions on November 4, but were eliminated in the quarterfinals at Seward Park High School in Manhattan.

The Dolphins qualified by beating Far Rockaway in a division tiebreaker, 25-17, 18-25, and 25-21 on November 1 to capture the PSAL B10 championship. Campus Magnet ended the Beach Channel junior varsity football Dolphins' chances at an undefeated season last Sunday.

The Bulldogs (7-0) defeated host Beach Channel (7-1), 14-0. Former Far Rockaway High Schol football player Jeremy Pruitt finished his second season as one of the team captains with the Hudson Valley Community College football team.

Hudson Valley, which is located in Troy, N.Y., finished the NCAA junior college football season on a down note. They lost, 35-21, to Erie Community College in the Region III championship game played at Union College in Schenectady on November 10.

Pruitt finished third on the team on defense with 44 tackles, 3 sacks and recovered a forced fumble. Hudson Valley finished their campaign with a 5-5 record. The opening day roster was sprinkled with Pruitt's former Far Rockaway teammates which included Ricardo Remy, Ednut Egberongbe and Shaun Wheeler.
