BCAC Midget Shamrocks Rock Copaigue In Season Finale

The BCAC Midget Shamrocks prevailed in their last game of the regular season with a triumphant 26-12 victory over Copaigue.

The Shamrocks ended the Nassau Suffolk Football League regular season with a 7-1-1 record and in second place. The game was predicated on defense as Matt Trudden, Nick Manzi, Evan Riviere, Brian Ganun, Anthony Perrotto, Alex Passarella and Vinny Spirito helped the Shamrocks stop the potent Copaigue offense.

Chris Manfre, Zack Warner, Vincent Finizio, Marco Minichino and Timmy Panetta also contributed on defense.

The Shamrocks scored first when Tom Kelly plunged into the end zone from one-yard out for a 6-0 lead. QB Luke Schreiner threw to WR Charlie Gavigan for the extra point and a 7- 0 lead.

Manfre caused a Copaigue turnover and BCAC's offense capitalized. Paulie Yodice broke away from tacklers for a 50-yard touchdown run and a 13-0 Shamrocks lead.

Andrew Conklin stripped the ball and BCAC recovered another fumble. The Shamrocks would score again with the help of runs by Minichino, Finizio and Schreiner. The BCAC QB threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Gavigan for a 20-0 lead.

Copaigue cut the lead to the 20-6 by halftime. The Shamrocks offensive line pushed back the defenders with the help of George Baroudos, Mike Perrotto, Billy Collins, Vinny Spirito, and WR Mike "Rudy" Conneely.

Schriener completes his third touchdown pass of the day with an 80-yard effort to Gavigan to make the score 26- 6. BCAC prevailed 26-12.

The coaches are very proud of the young men as the playoffs start next week. More than likely, the Shamrocks will play undefeated Glen Cove Red with time and place to be announced.

Thanks to all the fans for their support throughout the regular season. Do not miss this playoff game as it should be a great one. We also like to wish the Ponys and the peewees the best of luck in the playoffs on Sunday.

Go shamrocks!
