St.Francis Runners Compete In Diocesan Championships
The Junior boys (ages 11 and 12) were first-place gold medal winners. Second-place silver was won by the Senior boys (ages 13 and 14). The Bantam boys (ages 9 and 10) and the Novice boys (ages 8 and under) placed third in their races. The Bantam girls placed fourth and the Novice girls placed fifth.
With their finishing place determining their points, the Junior boys had a perfect score, winning the Diocesan Championship. Ryan Kilgallen, Patrick Goldberg, Devin Rocks and Billy Dunn placed first through fourth, and were followed by Michael Castellano, James Leonard, Liam Lachner, Tommy Mercer and Daniel Fay.
The Senior boys team of Conor Gallagher, Pat Kilgallen and John McCormack won the silver medal.
The Bantam boys' earned third- place bronze with the strong running of Alex Goldberg, Denis Murtagh, John Glynn, Thomas Glynn, Patrick Rocks, Andrew Gifford, and Ian Richter.
The Novice boys team earned third place bronze; Mattie Schonfeld, Gregory Henschel, Peter Tuffey, James Lunny, Patrick Murtagh, Brendan Glynn, Andrew O'Sullivan, Bobby Dunn, Dylan Abernethy, Joseph Featherston, and Terence McFadden.
The Novice girls placed fifth in their division, with Kelsey Flynn, Gwynivere McGee, Emily Richter, Anna Hickey and Caroline Gifford running strong. The post-race party was followed by the exciting announcing of the results and presentations of the trophies and medals. Congratulations to all the runners on an excellent performance!
