Home Cooking Power Midget Shamrocks Victory

The Midget Shamrocks took the field last Saturday night in their final home game of the season against Seaford at BCAC Field. A beautiful October night was the setting for a great Shamrocks victory.

The Shamrocks defense, with outstanding tackles by Tom Kelly, Kenny McGowan, Billy Collins, Tim Panetta, Marco Minichino and two sacks from Zack Warner, helped give the football the offense.

The "Rocks" would score on a nineyard touchdown run by Paul Yodice (73 yards).QB Luke Schreiner would throw to WR Charlie Gavigan to complete the extra point and a 7-0 lead.

The Shamrocks offensive line was strong all day with great blocking by; Andrew Conklin, George Baroudos, Mike Perrotto, Vinnie Spirito and Mike "Rudy" Conneely.

The BCAC defense was fired up all night in making big plays against the Seaford offense. They forced the opposition into fumbling three times and the Shamrocks sacked the quarterback seven times in the game.

Chris Manfre led with 6 tackles and 3 sacks and Charlie Gavigan had 5 tackles and a sac. A host of Shamrocks defensive players, including Evan Riviere, Brian Ganun, Anthony Perrotto, Vincent Finizio, Billy Collins, and Kenny McGowan got into the tackling act as well.

The Shamrocks took a 13-0 lead into halftime with Manfre took the football into the end zone on a 9-yard touchdown run.

In the second half, Matt Trudden and Nikolaus Manzi led the defense into stalling the Seaford offense. The shamrocks offense went to work and was successful when Yodice ran a quarterback sneak for a 39 yd touchdown to take a 19-0 lead.

Seaford scored on a long touchdown run on the final play of the game but the Midgets would up victorious by the score of 19-6.

The players played a great game, and they had a lot of fun. Thanks to all the fans for showing up at the game and the field was packed. The Shamrocks, who improved their record to 5-1-1) will travel to 7-0 Roosevelt on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The team would also like to congratulate the Pony Shamrocks, who won 28-6 and improved to 6-1 on the season. The team is now in second place and we would like to congratulate their coaches and players for a job well done. Go Shamrocks!
