Late Game Heroics Give Shamrock Peanuts Exciting Win

The BCAC Shamrock Peanuts (White Team) hit the road this weekend to do battle with the Plainview White team.

The Shamrocks won the toss and on the very first play of the game, QB Aidan Smith faked a handoff to Johnny Walsh, and threw a perfect pass to WR Timothy McCabe, who went 60 yards for a touchdown. That was the beginning of what would be to date, the most exciting Peanut White game this year.

The BCAC offensive line did a great job in creating the first score led by; center Robert Baldiran, guards John Mullen and John Baroudos, and tackles Christian Appel and Bryan Bostwick.

Behind this formidable front, the Shamrocks were able to strike again. Walsh took a solid handoff from the quarterback and the BCAC runningback raced 40 yards for the second touchdown of the day.

Plainview was equally impressive considering the Shamrock defense they faced. Ever steady James and Christian Agoglia, James Carson and Christian Appel were on the front line. Linebackers John Mullally, Phoenix Parker, Aidan Smith, Dillon Ostrander, Michael McManus and Jack Collins were also in top form. This defense held the explosive Plainview to a low score.

The second half would prove to be just as less exciting then the first. The Shamrock defense once again denied Plainview a chance to get into the end zone on numerous occasions, even on a very tense goal line stance.

With only four minutes remaining in the game, the Shamrocks got the football. With big runs on the ground by Bostwick, Appel and Mullen, the Shamrocks advanced the ball to the Plainview 5-yard line. With eight seconds left, and no time outs, the Shamrocks turned to veteran Aidan Smith for the last second heroics.

Smith took the hand off from his QB McCabe and followed his lead blocker Appel into the end zone as BCAC scored the final touchdown of the game as time ticked down to zero.

Once again, the Shamrocks would like to thank the faithful for your support, and look forward to seeing you at our last away game this week at Bayville on Sunday, October 21 at 10 a.m.The Shamrock bowl between the Peanut White and the Peanut Green teams is a go and will be held on Sunday, November 4th at 1 p.m. at the BCAC field. 50/50 tickets will be sold for this game and the winner will be announced at halftime.
