BCAC "Green"Peanuts Battle Tough Hempstead Team

Last Saturday evening, the Broad Channel Athletic Club Peanut Shamrocks welcomed Hempstead to Memorial Field in Broad Channel.

The Shamrocks started their fifth game of the season quickly. On the second play of the game, RB Nick Wood broke free at the line of scrimmage, sprinted 60 yards for a touchdown, and gave the team a 6-0 lead.

Hempstead answered quickly with a scoring drive, to tie the game at 6-6. The Shamrock defense played another impressive game, led by Sebastian Freiberg and John Weiss, who each recorded multiple tackles for losses.

Aidan Clifford and Joe Maldonado helped anchor a steadily improving defensive line. Newly anointed running back Michael O'Connell showed he will be a force to be reckoned with, as he ran for 47 yards on three carries.

The Shamrocks' offensive line, which was led by Luke Jackowski and Nick Galimi, did a good job as a relentless Hempstead pass rush kept coming. QB Jack Allen remained calm and provided steady leadership.

The Shamrocks continue to improve each week, and have made their coaches extremely proud.

This week, the Shamrocks hit the road again, and travel out to Oyster Bay on Sunday morning.

Stay tuned for information on the end of the season's highly anticipated Peanut Bowl between the White and Green Peanuts of Broad Channel.
