Pee Wee Shamrocks Lose Heartbreaker At Final Whistle
The BCAC Pee Wee Shamrocks traveled to West Babylon last Sunday for a 10 a.m. game. On the Shamrocks first possession of the game, QB Mario Cimino handed off to RB Danny Hoff, who ran for a 58 yard TD and an early 6-0 Shamrock lead.
Hoff's amazing run was helped by the great teamwork and blocks by fellow RB's Jordan Jessup, Robert Kollmer; WR Theo Stathis; TE Christian Paulich; OL Anthony Russo, Charlie Bostwick, Kyle Hilgendorf, Keith Servello, Tyler Runolfsson and center Matt Ostrander.
The Shamrocks' defense ran onto the field ready for battle led by, DE's Jordan Jessup, Michael Torres; DL Patrick Minihane, Charlie Bostwick, Cameron Manzi, Richard Wood, Liam Malsy, Michael Krzyzanowski; OLB Steven Kenny; MLB Robert Kollmer; OLB Anthony Cimino; FS Luke Hanning and SS Bobby Martin.
West Babylon tried to run up the middle but was stuffed by the Shamrocks gang tackling and forced a turnover on downs. On the next few series both offenses committed turnovers. Kollmer recovered a forced fumble for the Shamrocks. Hoff, who was led by the excellent blocking by the entire offense, scored 2 touchdowns (20 and 60 yards each) for an 18-13 Shamrock halftime lead.
In the third quarter, West Babylon ran a reverse on a 3rd and 8. Jessup forced a fumble but the Shamrock defense lost sight of the football, the opponents recovered and ran in a touchdown for a 19-18 lead.
West Babylon scored on a sweep for a 25-18 lead with less than 4 minutes remaining. The Shamrocks defense, led by Bostwick, Jessup, Maro, Anthony Cimino and Kollmer stuffed the extra point try.
The Shamrock Offense ran out ready to score. Jordan Jessup (22, 12 and 5 yards), Paulich (10 yards) and Hoff (12, 5) led the ground game. BCAC brought the ball to the Babylon 5-yard line with 38 seconds left. Hoff ran a sweep and scored his fourth touchdown of the game cutting the lead to 25-24. Mario Cimino faked a handoff to Jessup and threw the ball to Theo Stathis for the extra point and a 25-25 tie. With 30 seconds left in the game, West Babylon ran a sweep for a loss. On their last play of the game, they ran a reverse, the Shamrocks defense just missed tackling the runningback to score for a 31-25 lead as time expired. The coaches are very proud of their Shamrock players for never giving up and displayin great sportsmanship. On Sunday, October 7 at 12 p.m., the Pee Wee Shamrocks will play their next game at BCAC Memorial Field.
