Shamrocks Green Team Finish Even Against Bayville

On Saturday, September 22, the Broad Channel Peanut Shamrocks traveled out to Bayville to take on the Falcons in their third football game of the year.

It was a perfect day for football, with a warm breeze blowing in off the Long Island Sound.

On defense, the Shamrocks had their hands full holding down the relentless Falcons. The Shamrock defense, led by LB's Michael O'Connell and Kevin Koestner, reacted brilliantly when Bayville attempted to pass the ball and added constant pressure on the Bayville ground game.

On offense, QB Jack Allen led a Shamrock attack that featured Nick Wood, John Weiss, and Jason Kinneary, who rushed for 43, 38, and 29 yards respectively.

The game ended with some high drama, as Shamrock RB Jason Kinneary scampered 7 yards for a BCAC touchdown, to tie the game as time expired.

Shamrock Defensive Coordinator Sean O'Connell was more than pleased with the effort of his players.

"These kids played with the hearts of champions today," O'Connell said.

The coaches would like to thank the large traveling support the team has received on the road, as well as the parents for providing the refreshments for the kids. The Shamrocks return home this week to take on Syosset on Saturday, September 29 in a 6 p.m. game at Memorial Field in Broad Channel. The game surely promises to be an eventful contest. Hope to see you all at the field!
