Friends at Tribute Park

Dear Editor,

In December of 2006, my family ordered a memorial stone to be placed at Friends at Tribute Park in memory of my father, who passed away in January 2006. We wanted it donated as a Christmas present to my mother. When I ordered the stone, I was also dealing with Dolores Orr, who at the time was very helpful. After sending a check for $250, which was immediately cashed, there has been no activity. I have made numerous phone calls to Orr and Bernie Warnock but have not received any satisfaction. I then contacted Councilman Addabbo's office and was assisted by Melisa, who followed up with me on numerous occasions. All that Orr and Warnock tell me is there is a meeting scheduled for the following week and all those that ordered stones will be getting letters. My last conversation with Mr. Warnock was on August 13, 2007 wherein he advised there was a meeting coming up and we would all be getting letters. He said there were several people (possibly 42, can not recall exact number he told me) that ordered stones and no one is following up as much as me. He said that he is willing to return my money, but I stated that that was the easy way out and I wanted what I ordered. Unfortunately, I was advised by Addabbo's office on Wednesday last week that Melisa has finished her summer internship. I felt like I was now up against a brick wall.

There was an advertisement which indicated that all stones placed for the holidays in 2006 would be installed in the spring of 2007. We are now coming up on my father's anniversary and there is still no definitive date when the stone will be installed. Mr. Warnock has advised that there has been a problem with the engraving company and that they closed for a month during the summer.

I could not believe that there was another fund-raiser in August, when they didn't even come through with the goods from a previous fund-raiser.

I have now been advised by Addabbo's office that Bernie Warnock has advised me to write him a note and he will return my money. I have heard every excuse from the engraver closing for a month during the summer, not enough bricks have been ordered, etc. I don't understand how this could be, especially since we have had my father's headstone engraved and installed a lot quicker and it is a bigger stone.

I am now backing down and requesting my money back. I will donate it to a church who will install a

plaque and I will

never support anything from Friends at Tribute Park. I was of the understanding that this was a tribute park in memory of those who were lost and thought it would be a nice memorial for my family. I am waiting for the ad to go in for the holidays and wondering if they put in the promise that they will be installed for the spring. I will not fall for that again!
