Rockaway:'From Playground To Slum'
Joan O'Hara is a long-time Rockaway resident who says she remembers when the peninsula was the "playground of New York." Now, she says, despite the building boom, Rockaway's streets have started to resemble a "slum," with garbage and weeds everywhere. As proof, O'Hara brought The Wave some photos she shot earlier this week taken on the streets surrounding The Wave office on Beach 88 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard. They speak for themselves.
