Charles P. Weinsheimer, a longtime Roxbury resident, died September 12.
Weinsheimer was born in the Bronx. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was appointed as an officer in 1962 and retired in 1980. He served as Roxbury's Mayor from 1971 to 1972 Weinsheimer was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Cosgrove. He is survived by his stepmother, Evelyn Weinsheimer; wife, Carol E. Weinsheimer; sons, Charles S. and Frank; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with visitation to be held on Sunday, September 16, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Genevieve's Church in Roxbury.
