Rockaway Ravens Explode Off To Winning Football Start
The Rockaway Ravens football organization began their 2007 season last week on a victorious note. The purple-clad warriors opened their campaign at Beach Channel High School on September 1, where the five teams who represent the Ravens, defeated the Brooklyn Tomahawks and the Jamaica Pride.
The Ravens triumphed over the Brooklyn Tomahawks in four of the five games that were played last Saturday afternoon.
In the first game, the Mighty Mites (9-year-olds) defeated Brooklyn 14-6, in a hard fought contest. The Jr. Pee Wees (10-years-old) shut out their rivals 26-0.
The Rockaway Pee Wees (11-yearsold) shook off a penalty filled first half and scored 21 unanswered points in the second half, to win 21-0. In a blowout, the Midgets (13-years-old) routed the Tomahawks, 28-0.
The Rockaway Jr. Midgets (1-2 years-old) faced another opponent in the Jamaica Pride. In a close contest, the Ravens prevailed to pull out a 20- 13 victory.
On Saturday, the Ravens will play at 2 p.m. at Far Rockaway High School. At 10 a.m. on Sunday, the Ravens will have four teams taking the field at Beach Channel High School.
Admittance is free and the Ravens invite everyone to attend and watch some exciting football!
