It's My Turn

It's Not My Turn, It's Our Turn
By Jane Deacy Candidate For Republican State Committee, Republican District Leader

My name is Jane Deacy and I am running in this September 18 Republican Primary, along with Eric Ulrich, for the positions of Republican State Committee Members - better known as "Republican District Leaders" for the 23rd Assembly District. The geographic area is comprised of Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Broad Channel, and the entire Rockaway Peninsula. It is a grassroots, non-paying, party position that is responsible for building the base support, appointing poll workers and representing your Assembly District at the State Conventions. Eric Ulrich and I are both asking for your support and this is why it is important for you to get out and vote on September 18.

This year there are no large primaries going on in the NYC area, so this primary race is being watched by those "in the political know." We are facing City Council races, Senatorial races and the Presidential race, in the next few years and Republicans are going to be asked to get involved. Now is the moment to capture the attention of the bigger politicians; to show that the 23rd Assembly District gets involved; and we want our voices heard now, if they want our support when it is their turn at bat.

In my past career, as one of the first female police officers of the NYPD on patrol, as well as in my teaching career, which I just completed after teaching at St. Camillus School here in Rockaway, I have always believed and taught that we all make a difference, good or bad. In addition, I have always led by example because I believe that people, especially children, do as you do, not as you say. I also believe that there must be clear and direct consequences or rewards for one's actions. Everyone wants and needs to know their parameters, and I want you to know the possible results for your actions on Primary Day, September 18. • If you are a registered Republican and do your civic duty and vote for State Committee Member, as well as County Committee (a smaller geographical designation within our Assembly District electing two representatives to voice your concerns), then you will be adding your voice to the political process called democracy. Our soldiers in Iraq are fighting to insure those same rights to other people, that some people here are too lazy to embrace and exercise. Is that what you want to say? • If you are a registered Republican and do your civic duty and vote on September 18, you will be leading by example to all around you, including children, who will be our future. You will be saying that there is an orderly way to change direction or leadership, other than the violence we see and have demonstrated way too often. Isn't that what you want to say? • If you are a registered Republican and do your civic duty and vote on September 18, the rewards will be a renewed presence of the Republican party within the 23rd Assembly District and we will have captured the attention of City Councilmen, Assembly members and Senators. Everyone knows the squeaky wheel gets the oil, and that is as true today as it was yesterday. When services are directed to this geographical area, then everyone within it benefits. The consequences of not voting on September 18 are that you have not had your voice heard, and you let someone else choose for you, but it doesn't stop some people from complaining. Is that what you want?

In summary, I am asking you for your support, for both Eric Ulrich and myself, Jane Deacy. I think that the Republican Party of the 23rd Assembly District has a voice that well deserves to be heard and I believe we can give this voice. The ideals of the Republican Party are still strong. With the upcoming elections of City Council, the Senate and the Presidency, it is important for us to let it be known that we do stand united, that we do believe in accountability of actions, and we do believe in abiding by the laws of this great nation. If that means that not everyone agrees with us, then that is the beauty of this country; so thank God you live here, where you can voice your opinion. Isn't that what you want?

The Rockaway Republican Club, of which we are members, will be having a party at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club to celebrate our anticipated victory and we would like to invite you to cast your vote and join us to meet fellow Republicans. As I said, it is not MY TURN, but rather, it is OUR TURN!
