Construction Halts Weekend A-Train To Rockaway Rail Work Throughout Month Of September
The MTA has announced that construction plans could affect your weekend A-train use.
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturdays and concluding at 5 a.m. on Mondays during September, A subway service that normally ends at the Far Rockaway Mott Avenue station will operate to the Howard Beach-JFK station. The Rockaway Park "S" Shuttle line will not be in operation. Special fare-free substitute shuttle bus service will replace A and S service to the Rockaways. Shuttle bus number 1 will operate non-stop between the Howard Beach-JFK and the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue stations. Shuttle bus number 2 will operate between the Howard Beach-JFK and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 Street stations, stopping at Cross Bay Boulevard and Noel Road in Broad Channel.
Special subway shuttle route will operate between the Far Rockaway- Mott Avenue and Rockaway Park- Beach 116 Street stations, serving all stations on the Rockaway peninsula. NYC Transit will be replacing railroad tracks and ties which have deteriorated over time along the A line, ensuring that the subway will be able to operate safely and reliably throughout the affected area, between the North Channel Bridge and the Beach 90 Street- Holland station on the Rockaway Park line. They have performed similar work at other locations along the A line's Rockaway branch several times in the recent past.
