Relief For Concerned Caregivers

Providing relief for those caring for the sick or elderly in their families, the New York Foundation for Senior Citizens is launching a service to provide free homecare on a temporary basis for New York City residents.

The program, Emergency/ Extended Hours of Care, provides certified personnel for homecare on weekdays after 5 p.m., weekends, holidays and in emergencies.

"This important service provides a continuum of care for elderly persons receiving assistance," foundation president Linda Hoffman said in a press release, "which ensures they can safely remain in their own homes while their primary caregivers are temporarily unavailable."

Priority for the service is given to caregivers with annual incomes of less than $40,000.
