On September 30, starting at SUNY Westbury, volunteers are walking to help victims of Juvenile Diabetes and to help fight the disease. You can even help by dropping off a donation at Janet's, Studio "J", where you can get a paper sneaker in exchange for a dollar or two. At the same time, you can check out her new creams applied before makeup that erase the wrinkles and firm up the skin. See the difference when applied to half the face. She applied it to me this weekend and people commented that they saw the improvement. If you miss this one, there is another three-mile-walk on September 16 at Belmont Race Track. There is no better exercise than walking. You can do it for yourself as well as the cause.
Local news around the bar at Kennedy's: Florence Pickarsky's grandson, Noah's 5th Birthday on July 25. Noah's father (her son, Mark) and Noah's mom, Norine came from West Hartford, Connecticut with Florence's other son, Michael and sister, Lana and all stayed over for a few days. Florence's house became "Noah's Ark."
Neil and Andrea Cray and soon-to-be Emma Howard "Cray" are here from London for 10 days and Rebecca Kerston is visiting from Vancouver, Canada to root for the Yankees.
In April, Niki Walker became a father of a little girl, Theresa Charlotte Rae. He dropped me at church on the way from BPSC where he was visiting Marge and Joe Moran. Best regards.
We had another WALK closer by, at Chester Walk for our Veterans Day on Saturday: Veterans, Fire Dept. marched, Piper Drums band played and it was a half hour ceremony. Sorry, I couldn't make it. (Contributed by Bob O'Brien).
Saw Kathleen Conway in church and she is fine and well. One of her twins, Madeline, drove her mother and me back from church. Kathleen asked about Peter and Helene Danzilo, who are not too well. I joined them for dinner that night at Kennedy's and they told me Madeline was a special agent for V. P. Cheney. That's nice to have on your resume, Madeline.
Well, I did join my favorite couple for dinner that night, even though Helene was suffering from shingles, which I was soon to learn are very painful and I also learned most people get shingles from stress or exposure to chicken pox. Anyway, it is not a good thing to have. Please say a few prayers for Helene. She is too good a woman to be in pain like that.
However, Peter looks great! I know you all miss his column. You have told me so. But, I do think he is happier with his retirement from the bridge column. They still do hold their bridge parties Thursday evenings at St. Thomas More Hall.
Donald Ritter, owner of the Surf Shop, told me that he has surfboards in every size for little ones and on up, to adults. And, you will just flip over the flops if you go into their hidden compartment in the Flip Flops, that is. Gladys Crowley celebrates another birthday August 16. Congratulations!
SISO, Independent Show Producers for Profit, was in NYC. It is the only place where CEOs, Presidents and Owners can exchange ideas as members of large corporations and entrepreneurial companies to maximize their profit potential.
At the luncheon at the Sheraton, awards were given to the best overall website. AdTech.com was the winner. Johnathan Tisch, CEO of NYC & Co., said that both the tradeshow and hospitality industries are being threatened by negative impressions foreigners have of this country. People should be greeted with a smile, not a growl. They had a beautiful reception at the Top of the Roc, which had been closed for a while, and a great buffet dinner at Rockefeller Plaza in front of the fountain, with music and dancing.
IKEA, at their penthouse reception, showed off their beautiful, attractive furniture.
Don't buy anything for your home till you see them. Affordable! Affordable! Affordable!
