Channel View Students Return From Egypt
Three Channel View students had the opportunity to "walk like an Egyptian" in the land of pharaohs and pyramids this summer.
Jaclyn Burgos and Adaiah and Claudia Gaillard traveled to Egypt with seven other New York City high school students for a month-long academic study and leadership program, sponsored by the International Youth Leadership Institute.
The students visited the cities of Cairo, Aswan and Fayyoum, where they researched culture, studied international affairs, visited historical sites and took intensive Arabic classes at the American University in Cairo.
While in Cairo, New York City's sister city, the students met Cairo Governor Wasir when they presented a letter of greeting from Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The worldly students landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport August 1, ready to relax for the rest of the summer.
