PAL Kicks Off Summer Play Street Program

This summer, New York City youngsters will be able to enjoy double dutch, nok hockey and basketball as part of the Police Athletic League's Summer Play Street Program.

The PAL kicked off its 2007 summer program on July 2. Services will be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., throughout the summer.

The program will close off public streets, as well as take advantage of the city's parks and playgrounds, to provide children with safe and supervised areas to enjoy sports, arts and crafts, music and dance.

Designated locations accessible to Rockaway youngsters are: Bayside Playground at Beach 104 Street; Macedonia Church at Beach 67 Street; the Carleton Manor Houses at Beach 73 Street; the Hammel Houses between Beach 84 and 86 Streets; the Redfern Houses at Redfern Avenue and Hassock Street; the Ocean Bay Apartments between Beach 56 and 57 Streets; and Beach 9 Playground at Seagirt Boulevard and Beach 9 Street.
