RMAC Host Mac Talla Mor At Sunset Picnic Concert

The Rockaway Music and Arts Council held its second Sunset Picnic Concert last Sunday, featuring the Celtic rhythms of Mac Talla Mor. The non-traditional band, made up of drums, bagpipes, a keyboard and an electric guitar, held the interest of the large audience throughout the two-hour concert, mixing traditional Irish music with a bagpipe rock that is seldom heard on the peninsula. The group is made up of the members of the Ofgang family, with mom, Patty Devlin Ofgang on the bodhran (drum) and daughter Ilana on the keyboard and as lead vocalist - and a good one at that. Brothers Jesse and Levon double on the pipes and drums, while brother Erik writes the songs and plays the guitar.
