Angelo Napolitano, a Woodmere resident formerly of Far Rockaway, died at Westchester Medical Center on July 6. He was 63.
Napolitano was born in Brooklyn on October 29, 1943. He came to Far Rockaway with his family when he was a teenager and graduated from Far Rockaway High School. He would relocate to Woodmere, Long Island, in 1989.
Napolitano was a member of the New York City Police Department and retired with the rank of sergeant after 29 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, John.
Napolitano is survived by his mother, Sara Napolitano of Far Rockaway; wife, Mary (nee Metz), a bookkeeper at Queens-Nassau Nursing Home in Far Rockaway; son, Angelo Napolitano (Stephanie) of Rockland County; daughter, Alice Improte (Stephen) of Rockland County; stepson, William Miley (Diana) of Woodmere; stepdaughter, Jennifer Miley of East Rockaway; five grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Howard of South Carolina.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Meserole Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Hewlett, Long Island. Interment at Mount St. Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery in Flushing.
