Herman Edert, a Rockaway resident for 35 years coming from Brooklyn, died June 30.
Edert, who was born in Brooklyn, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the proprietor of Reliance Express Trucking Co.
Edert was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Ann Hale Edert.
He is survived by his sons, Richard, James and William; daughter, Rita Hunt; grandchildren, Meaghan, Thomas, Christina, Daniel, Keri, Nicholas, Douglas and Justin; and great-grandchildren, Alexia and Logan.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with visitation and a service held at the funeral home. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.

Prop., Ed's Fishing Station
Edward J. Kaufman Jr., a Rockaway resident for nearly 40 years, died July 3.
Kaufman, who was born in Jamaica, Queens, was the proprietor of Ed's Fishing Station in Arverne.
He is survived by his wife, Simonne Martinet Kaufman; son, Edward J. Kaufman III (Jackie); grandchildren, Brian, Timothy and Samantha; and sisters, Lorraine Boardman, Barbara D'Angelone and Dorothy Richetti.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, July 6 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A funeral service will be held at O'Connor's on Saturday, July 7 at 10 a.m. Interment at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery.
