In an attempt to facilitate the job hunt for local residents, the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC) hosted a mini-job fair last Thursday. The fair, held at RDRC headquarters in Far Rockaway, aimed to make job-hopeful locals more comfortable during the interview process by having employers from companies such as FedEx Ground and New York Health Care interview them in "a familiar setting and relaxed environment," according to a press release. More than 75 current and former Workforce Development clients sought career opportunities in positions such as certified nursing assistants and airport security guards. The success of the mini fair has the RDRC in high hopes that their annual fair in late September will be productive, as well.
