The St. Thomas More CYO Intermediate girls' soccer team, comprised of seventh and eighth graders, was victorious last weekend in the championship game played on Sunday, June 17th at 10 a.m. at O'Connor Park.

The game was originally scheduled for 9 a.m. in Ft. Tilden, but due to a mix-up earlier in the morning, the game's start time was changed.

The late circumstances didn't harm the soccer team's concentration. These girls, as they have always done in the past, rolled with the punches as phone calls were made and everyone showed up at O'Connor Field. During their CYO career these girls have had several coaches, from Noreen Dengler, to Maureen Klein, Debbie Johnston, Tom Rom and finally, Tony Burti.

Tony brought them across the finish line to capture the spring 2007 CYO Intermediate Soccer Championship. Special thanks go out to Katie Lang and Shannon Fahy, two seventh grade girls who joined this team in the fall and stayed with them in the spring.

Over the years, there have been some lean times, but these girls have proven that you should never give up. Thanks to Tony Burti for taking these girls to the end. St. Thomas More would like to wish the girls the best of luck in high school.
