Queens Library At Far Rockaway To Close For HVAC Replacement

The Queens Library at 1637 Central Avenue in Far Rockaway is scheduled to close for a little over a month, starting June 24, 2007. The building is slated to have the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems completely replaced, and the work is estimated to last for approximately one month. The reopening of the library is expected to occur sometime during the last week in July.

Customers of the library are encouraged to use any of the Queens Library facilities nearby. The other libraries located closest to Far Rockaway are the Arverne branch, at 312 Beach 54 Street, and the Peninsula branch, located at 92-25 Rockaway Beach Boulevard.

In addition, there will be a Bookmobile parked near the site of the Far Rockaway Library to provide service on three Wednesdays during the closure: June 27, July 11, and July 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please be aware that this schedule is subject to change.
