James Davis Service Maintenance Worker
James Davis, a longtime Rockaway resident, died May 1. He was 65.
Davis, a service maintenance worker, was born on April 14, 1942 in Brooklyn. He enjoyed cooking at a young age and attended Food Trade High School.
Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Brooks and Annabelle Davis; Dorothy Hill, Charles Davis, Betty Lawson, June Davis and Gloria Alexander; and son, Reginald.
He is survived by his siblings, Richard Davis, Helena Lawson, Melvin Davis and Jack Davis; wife, Shellann Davis (Easy); children, Nathaniel, Stephen, Donna, Patricia, James, Anthony and Angela; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; aunt, Rosalee; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Staten Island.
Agnes Greco, a longtime Far Rockaway and Rockaway Beach resident, died May 15 at the East Rockaway Nursing Home. She was 86.
Greco was born in San Arsenio, Italy and came to the United States as a youth with her family. She was a seamstress and a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matteo and Chaira Greco; and siblings, Celia Greco, Ann Brandenberg, Josephine Miles, Nicolina Ippolito, Matthew Greco and Nicholas Greco.
Greco is survived by her siblings, Theresa Quadrozzi, Claire Havel and Dorothy Ferrante.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Meserole Funeral Home Inc. in Inwood. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Inwood. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York, where Greco was buried with her parents.
Lucille Hazzard, a longtime Rockaway resident, died May 17.
Hazzard, a homemaker, was born in Abbeyville, South Carolina on June 24, 1910. According to family members, she was respected by everyone and was a true Christian.
Hazzard was preceded in death by her children, Florine, Charles and Annette; siblings, James, Mae Francis, Rosa, Eula and David; and grandchildren, Ibraheim, Charles Jr., Tony and Ernest Jr.
She is survived by her children, Robert, Beatrice, Celaine and Faith; 74 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Retired Truck Driver
Donnie Jasper, a longtime Far Rockaway resident, died April 29. He was 76.
Jasper, a retired truck driver, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 19, 1931. He was baptized and became a member of the First Church of God in Christ in Far Rockaway.
Jasper is survived by his wife, Minnie L. Jasper; sons, Fowler, Danny, Bobby, Dondi, Darin and Rodney; daughters, Marsha, Gail and Jackie; grandsons, Kareen, Christopher, Nolen, Rodney Jr., Rashad, Joshua and Tamar; granddaughters, Cheryl, Danielle, Darininiah, Bianca, Quantashia, Alyssa, Jordan and Nevaeh; great-granddaughter, Mia Simone; sisters, Lorraine Wigfall, Virginia Jasper and Tiny Copeland; brothers, Robert Jasper and Horace Jasper; special cousin, Mary Ann Pearson of California; longtime friends, Howard and Susan Schwach and family; and other relatives and friends.

Kevin John Laffaye
Kevin John Laffaye, a resident of Lawrence, died May 16 at Peninsula Hospital Center. He was 59.
Laffaye was born in Manhattan. He worked as a dispatcher for Towne Taxi Service at the Lawrence Railroad Station. Laffaye served his country in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (nee Forman); daughter, Kelly; sister, Vivian Murphy of Houston, Texas; brothers, Thomas Laffaye of Inwood and John Laffaye of Long Island City; and several nieces and nephews.

Millie M. Lawton
Millie M. Lawton, a Rockaway resident for 35 years, died May 11.
Lawton, a homemaker, was born on September 8, 1910. She was the National Director of the Missing Angel Foundation for Stillbirth Research.
Lawton was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Olsen, and grandsons, Andy and Robert M. Olsen.
She is survived by her sons, Robert M. Olsen of Atlanta, Georgia and Richard K. Olsen of Phoenix, Arizona; grandsons, Peter Olsen of Kalispell, Montana and Scott Olsen of Atlanta, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Lindsay Olsen, and Andy and Jeff Olsen.

Louise Staton Masteller
Louise Staton Masteller, a Rockaway resident for over 45 years, died May 15.
Masteller, a homemaker, was born in Robersonville, North Carolina on August 10, 1920.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie Clark and Alfred Staton.
Masteller is survived by her children, Julia Hines, Felix Masteller and Linda Carter; grandchildren, Keith Farrell, Yvette Farrell, Thomas Hines II, Felicia Cleaves, Taji Masteller, Keesaun Carter, Traye Carter and Tianna Wright; great-grandchildren, Andre Farrell, Martell Farrell, Quanasha Cleaves, Gerald Cleaves, Rasheed Jones and Kaadeer Cleaves; great-great-grandson, Julius Farrell; sons-in-law, Thomas Hines Jr. and Gerome Carter; cousin, Eddie Hoggard; and many other relatives and friends.

Richard Francis Mullen Jr.
Richard Francis Mullen Jr., a former Arverne resident for over 40 years who moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1992, died May 17. He was 67.
Mullen was born in Brooklyn on November 1, 1939, and moved to Arverne in 1950 with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Sr.; mother, Marion; sister, Carol; and brothers, Kevin, Brian, Timothy and Dennis.
Mullen is survived by his sister, Patricia A. Adams, a former Arverne resident.
Disposition was held in Pueblo, Colorado. All other funeral arrangements were kept private.
William J. Newman
William J. Newman, a Rockaway resident for 12 years, died May 17.
Newman, a painter, was born in Limerick City, Ireland.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Shepherd; daughters, Sarah and Shannon Newman; and sisters, Philomena Kearns, Caroline Newman and Chrissy Roche.

Activity Therapist, SJEH
Estelle Pizarro, a Far Rockaway resident for 20 years, died May 10. She was 48.
Pizarro was born in Manhattan. She worked as an activity therapist for St. John's Episcopal Hospital in various departments for 10 years.
Pizarro is survived by her mother; sisters, Jenny and Marisol; husband, David; daughter, Janelle; sons, David and Chris; grandchildren, Layla and
Sebastian; and the staff and clients of St. John's Episcopal Hospital Continuing Day Treatment Program.
Visitation was held at the Lawrence Funeral Chapel in Lawrence, New York. Interment was at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn.
